An introduction to our products
. . .
Rosebud Meadow Goat Milk Soap uses only 6 natural ingredients, including the special ingredient – our goats milk, from our herd of rare breed, Golden Guernsey Goats! This soap is perfect for sensitive skin and many skin conditions.
So how did we start? We first made goats milk soap for our young son who was on all sorts of creams and ointments for his sore skin. Within a matter of weeks, washing with nothing but our goat’s milk soap, his skin had cleared up! We also loved how good the soap was for our skin and how creamy and moisturising it was – Rosebud Meadow Goat’s Milk Soap was born!
Our soap, along with our goats milk, is made up of Olive Oil, coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter and our final ingredient – Lye, a natural product used in all hard bars of soap. Lye originated from wood ash and what’s unique with goat’s milk soap is that the lye changes and combines with the milk to create Glycerine. A natural food for the skin, glycerine is great and encourages cell regeneration. The goat’s milk also lowers the pH of the bar far closer to your skins natural pH – what’s not to love?
We carefully craft soap from our creamy goat’s milk using the traditional cold press method. The result is a luxurious soap that is soft, smooth and gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types.
All our bars are SLS, Paraben and Palm Oil free, we only use the best natural ingredients we can.

Our Goats
. . .
All our milk comes from our lovely herd of Golden Guernsey Goats. Although not the most prolific of milk producers, we get more than enough milk from our girls. All our kids (baby goats) stay with their mums, unlike many soap producers and we only take the excess milk that the kids don’t need. We find the Golden Guernsey milk has a higher butterfat content than most commercial goats and we feel this is what makes our soap so creamy and special.
The Golden Guernsey Goats are a very rare breed, native of Guernsey. They came close to extinction during the Second World War when Guernsey was occupied by German forces and many of the goats were slaughtered for food. A small group was rescued by the late Miss Meriam Milburn. Thankfully numbers are starting to slowly increase thanks to careful breeding plans.
- Golden Guernsey’s are medium sized, with silky golden hair on the body, face and legs, giving the breed its distinctive appearance. The skin is also golden.
- If you look closely you will see that the large ears have an unusual upward and outward turn at the tips
- The breed is usually horned, but on the mainland of Britain, most animals have their horn buds removed early in life.
- This is one of the three golden breeds of Guernsey. The golden coloured Guernsey cows are famous for their rich and creamy milk. The golden donkeys are now sadly extinct.
